Cheap Costumes

Are you looking down the barrel of another year without an invitation to Heidi Klum’s Halloween Party arriving in your mailbox? Never been nominated for an Academy Award (and not likely to be in this lifetime)? Don’t let it get you down. Like the rest of us mere mortals lucky to make it onto an x-, y- or z-list bash, an evening of celebrity swank is not beyond us.

Enter the magical world of the masquerade, the crazy contingent of the costumed, the frivolous fun of fancy dress. Emulating the rich and famous – or even just having a jaunt dressed up as someone else – has never been easier! Themes and fancy dress costumes are only limited by your imagination… and with a little help from party supplies experts and the celebs themselves, you’re well on the way to a fantastic soiree and an enviable costume that will surely be worth noting down in the pages of haute couture history.

Whether you chose to rent or buy costume, be sure to add that certain personal touch. Creative or risqué – it’ll be bound to get people talking and recalling the outfit in future years. By way of a clue (and don’t just leave it to a Christina Aguilera naughty nurse or Paris Hilton playboy bunny), if you’ve got it, flaunt it. Not afraid to show a bit of skin? Great. Confident to strut in keyhole dresses, corsets, garters, fishnets, boas, petticoats, ribbons, lace or with a Bo Peep staff? Even better! Everyone loves nasty, kitsch and cheap Halloween costumes. A little tacky, a little classy – it’s a delicate balance – but it works for either the guys or the gals, if you know what I mean!

If all else fails, raise the celebrity calibre of the evening with a few strategically placed celebrities cardboard cutouts and prepare to spend an evening amongst the stars!
